Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir

Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir (* 1993 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic opera and concert singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir received her first vocal training at Söngskóli Sigurðar Demetz in Reykjavik, where she was also able to gain stage experience. She began her bachelor's degree at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin in 2014, during which time she appeared as Marzelline in Fidelio , Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Poppea in Agrippina and graduated in 2018 with distinction. Masterclasses with Anne Sofie von Otter , Véronique Gens , Susan Manoff, Piotr Beczala , Matthew Rose, Hartmut Höll and Emma Kirkby rounded off her training and encouraged the development of a repertoire of German, French, English and Nordic songs, ranging from Romanticism to to contemporary music.

At the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden she appeared from March 2019 as Snow White in a children's opera based on a fragment by Engelbert Humperdinck , and in September 2019 as Papagena in the Magic Flute . In the 2019/2020 season she belonged to the Thuringian Opera Studio and from September 2019 played Hannchen in Der Vetter aus Dingsda in a production of the Altenburg-Gera Theater .

  • 3rd Prize and Special Prize at the International Giulio Perotti Singing Competition, Ueckermünde (2015)
  • 2nd prize and prize for the best song interpretation at the International Haydn Competition for Classical Song, Rohrau (2019)
