Álvaro de Laiglesia
Álvaro de Laiglesia , also written La Iglesia (born September 9, 1922 in San Sebastián , † August 1, 1981 in Manchester ), was a Spanish writer and humorist.
biography
Laiglesia began writing the satirical magazine La Ametralladora ( The Machine Gun ), founded by Miguel Mihura . After switching to the daily newspaper Informaciones , he was one of the founders of the legendary weekly La Codorniz ( The Quail ), whose motto was: "The boldest humor for the most intelligent reader". From 1944 he was director of this magazine for 33 years.
As a novelist, he wrote a number of works that were successful in their day, such as Un náufrago en la sopa ( A shipwreck in the soup , 1944), Todos los ombligos son redondos ( All belly buttons are round , 1956), Yo soy Fulana de Tal ( I am Ms. So and so , 1963), Réquiem por una furcia ( Requiem for a hooker , 1970) or Una larga y cálida meada ( A long and warm pee , 1975).
Laiglesia wrote the play El caso de la mujer asesinadita ( The Case of the Slightly Murdered Woman , 1946) for the theater with Mihura , as well as comic scripts for Spanish television , including Consultorio ( consulting room , 1961), El tercer rombo ( The third diamond , 1966), Historias Naturales ( Natural History , 1967–1968) and Animales Racionales ( Sensible Animals , 1972) with Antonio Casal and Manolo Gómez Bur .
