Ásbjörn Óttarsson

Ásbjörn Óttarsson (born November 16, 1962 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ).

Ásbjörn Óttarsson worked as a seaman, shipowner and businessman in the fish processing industry. Since 1998 he has been Chairman of the Snæfellsbær Municipal Council . In 2009 it was discussed in the Icelandic media that in this function he was involved in a controversial contract with Iceland Glacier Products , which gave them exclusive rights to the water from springs under Snæfellsjökull for 95 years . From 2009 to 2013 Ásbjörn Óttarsson was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Northwestern constituency . He was a member of the parliamentary committee on the budget, and from 2009 to 2011 also the committee on transport and communication.
