Oliver Jordan

Oliver Jordan (born March 29, 1958 in Essen ) is a German painter. He lives and works in Cologne , Essen and in Port-Blanc ( Brittany ).

Life

From 1980 to 1985 he studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Ellen Neumann, Anatol Herzfeld and in the context of the FIU with Joseph Beuys and Johannes Stüttgen .

Oliver Jordan has been actively committed to helping landmine victims since 2000.

Oliver Jordan has been pursuing a concept of representational painting since the early 1980s, which he consistently enforces and clarified in the manifesto and the cycles "Lost and Found in Blue" and "Rembrandt Hears John Lee Hooker". In addition to the portrait and the landscape, the city is the focus of his painting. Until 2003 u. a. realized the following city cycles: Dortmund, Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Florence, Naples, Lyon, Paris, Madrid, Cologne, Essen and London.

He portrayed many well-known personalities such as the athletes Daniel Narcisse and Helmut Rahn , musicians such as Anne Sophie Mutter , Kent Nagano , Keith Richards and Bob Dylan . In 2001 Jordan portrayed the Lord Mayor of Cologne, Norbert Burger for the Old Town Hall in Cologne. In 2001/2002 a series of 16 portraits of the industrialist Berthold Beitz was created . In 2002 he painted an 8 × 9 meter triptych with Gustav Mahler , Igor Stravinsky and Arnold Schönberg for the Dortmund Philharmonic . In 2003, Jordan represented the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as an artist at the invitation of Prime Minister Peer Steinbrück on the Day of German Unity in the German Embassy in London.

His pictures are in public and private collections. Since 1983 he has had regular exhibitions in galleries, museums, art associations, as well as presentations at national and international trade fairs. Numerous books and catalogs as well as film and television contributions, such as the scientific film about seeing with Detlef Linke for Bavarian television (2003), document his work.
