Dortmund Art Association

The Dortmunder Kunstverein e. V. is a non-profit association for the promotion of contemporary art and was founded in 1984 as an initiative of culturally interested citizens. Today the association has around 200 members.

From 1999 to 2014 the association used rooms in the Löwenhof . In May 2014 the art association moved into new premises in the park of the twin cities 2 across from the Dortmund U-Tower. National and international artists are exhibited there in four to six exhibitions a year. This includes presentations from the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, new media and cross-media projects by around 100 artists. In addition to K. O. Götz , Ulrich Rückriem , Richard Serra , Joseph Beuys , Via Lewandowsky and Norbert Bisky , younger artists such as Thomas Köner , Martin Brand , Anke Eilergerhard , Tine Benz and Tobias Zielony were also presented.

The Dortmunder Kunstverein sees itself as a field of experimentation for new artistic concepts. In addition to the exhibition program, which is supplemented by lectures, discussions and talks with artists, the Dortmunder Kunstverein offers studio visits as well as excursions, workshops and trips for those interested in culture. Through joint events, a contact with Dortmund students and teachers has developed.
