Martin Brand
Martin Brand (* 1975 in Bochum ) is a visual artist in the fields of video art and photography .
life and work
Martin Brand studied art and German at the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Dortmund .
His works are video installations , short films and artistic photographs , often of a documentary nature. His works often move between documentation and fiction, random observation and staging. The main topics are the observation and representation of youth culture, the search for identity, orientation towards role models, influence through media and advertising, clique and scene formation, violence, group hierarchies and mechanisms.
2009 - 2010 the artist taught at the Hansagymnasium Cologne , since 2012 he has been teaching at the University of Cologne .
In recent years he has carried out a large number of projects in which he was based on observations and reflections on societal and political processes and conditions.
Martin Brand lives and works in Cologne .
