Angry face

Anger , also annoyance , is a spontaneous, internal, negative- emotional reaction to an unpleasant or undesirable situation , person or memory . What causes anger - the annoyance - can be frustration , such as an offense . Eliciting this emotion from others is known as angry .

Meaning and function

Anger describes a whole group of negative feelings that can have different levels of excitement and intensities ( affect ). The strongest form is anger (also called "rage"), which is seldom hidden from the counterpart due to aggressive behavior (except possibly the unconscious anger ). Less exciting forms of anger are discomfort , displeasure or discontent . As internal reactions, these emotions are initially spontaneous and usually unavoidable.

Like all feelings, anger has a communicative function. It is supported by social constructivists seen such as Averill is in human relations norms and values negotiated.

In society, showing anger is sometimes considered tactless . In collectivist cultures like the Chinese in particular , violations of the rule of harmony , for example by showing anger and anger, lead to " loss of face ". A little thing about which one is disproportionately upset because of a personal sensitivity is called a pet peeve .
