Äschlenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Äschlenberg is a hamlet in the Swiss municipality of St. Ursen in the canton of Friborg . Äschlenberg is a good three kilometers east of St. Ursen and just under one kilometer north of Alterswil . From Äschlenberg there are road connections to Alterswil, Mediwil and towards Rechthalten / St. Ursen.

history

The hamlet was originally called Erschlenberg and in the Middle Ages was the hamlet with the largest proportion of the population of all the hamlets that today belong to the municipality of St. Ursen. Two residents of Äschlenberg were burned in Freiburg in 1442 for witchcraft . At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Äschlenberg had its own school, which was attended by 60 children in 1888, for example. When the community of St. Ursen was founded, the meeting took place either here or in Baletswil , which can no longer be clearly determined historically. What is certain, however, is that an Äschlenberger also presided over the meeting at the time. An Äschlenberger was also elected to the first parish council of St. Ursen.
