The building stones on the burial ground

The Ättehögskullen (also burial ground Havesten) is a 85.0 × 80.0 m measured burial ground near the hamlet Havesten , east of the Strait of Ödeborg by Färgelanda in Västergötland in Sweden .

It consists of ten round loops , three building stones , two long loops, two round stone settings and a domar ring ( German  "judge ring " ).

  • The round loops are 5.0 to 16.0 m in diameter and 0.4 to 1.4 m high. Their surface consists of 0.2 to 0.3 m large stones. Three have a central pit 2.0 to 6.0 m in diameter and 0.1 to 0.7 m deep. One has a 6.0 x 4.0 m, 0.2 to 0.3 m deep cavity. At the edge of one of the small loops is a 0.6 m high and at least 1 m long block.
  • The long eyelets measure 8.0 × 4.0 m and 11.0 × 6.5 m and are 0.5 and 0.8 m high. The larger hill has a pit about 2.0 m in diameter and 0.3 m deep in the middle.
  • The round stone settlements are approximately 7.0 and 5.0 m in diameter and 0.2 m in height. The smaller one is badly damaged; only about half has been preserved.
  • The Domarring has a diameter of about 14.0 m and consists of nine stones, two of which are angular. They are 1.2 to 1.4 m high and 1.1 to 1.3 m wide. The others are 0.6 to 0.8 m high and 1.2 to 1.5 m wide. They stand at intervals of 2.5 to 3.0 m.
  • The building blocks are 1.9 to 3.8 m high, 0.4 to 1.5 m wide and 0.15 to 0.25 m thick. The two stones in the western part may stand on irregular stone mounds. The third stone was moved, but was probably originally in the same place on the burial ground.

In the southwest of the burial ground there are some irregular ridges that could be burial mounds. On the burial ground there are several larger stones that may have been built into systems.

Nearby is the Stenehed burial ground .
