Åsa Westlund (born May 19, 1976 in Anderstorp ) is a Swedish politician ( SAP ).

Westlund studied political science and law in Gothenburg and was a member of the board of the local student council and of the Swedish student councils association. She then worked as a political expert in the Ministry of Education and as a political secretary on the board of SAP.

At SAP, Westlund was, among other things, an assessor on the district executive committee in Gothenburg, an assessor on the party executive committee and the executive committee and coordinator of the women's network. Since 2004 she has been a deputy member of the Board of Management of SAP in Stockholm County .

Politically, Westlund initially worked as a deputy member of the health care committee in the Västra Götaland district, later as a member of the social committee and the subcommittee for labor and social affairs in her home municipality Haninge and as a deputy member of the committee for regional planning and transport of the Stockholm County Council. In 2004 she became a member of the Swedish Constitutional Committee. Since this year she has been a member of the European Parliament .

From 2009 to 2014 Westlund is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council.

She is a deputy in the Development Committee and in the delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
