Åsens by is an open-air museum in the Swedish province of Jönköpings län . The museum, located in the hamlet of Åsen as part of Småort Haurida in the Swedish municipality of Aneby , shows what a Småland village might have looked like around 1900. The museum has been designated as a cultural reserve since 2000 and is located in the middle of a nature reserve founded in 1997 .

Åsen was first mentioned in a document in 1455. Today the museum consists of a house, a barn and a brewery with an outbuilding. These were preserved as they were in the early 1900s and renovated around 1990. Other houses serve as a café, play barn for children, youth hostels and conference rooms. The museum is managed in the summer months of agricultural engineering around 1900. Cows, sheep and goats, which - like pigs and chickens - belong to Swedish land races graze on the pastureland. The orchards were designed and realized in collaboration with the Nordic genebank and other fruit tree genebanks with old local varieties. There are hiking trails around the museum, including one to the 315 m high Utsiktsberget .

Åsens by is received from the Åsens by cultural reserve foundation , with financial support from Riksantikvarieämbetet , the Jönköpings län provincial government and Aneby municipality.
