The Çakmak Dam ( Turkish Çakmak Barajı ) is located 30 km southeast of the provincial capital Samsun and 15 km southwest of Çarşamba in the northern Turkish province of Samsun on the course of the Abdal Deresi.
The dam lies at the foot of the Pontic Mountains . It was built between 1985 and 1988 as an earth embankment dam and serves to supply drinking water and industrial water . The dam is 45 m high and has a volume of 2.6 million m³. The associated reservoir covers an area of 6.28 km² and has a storage volume of 106.5 million m³. The Abdal Deresi flows 20 km downstream at Samsun Airport into the Black Sea .
