Me in a Million was a post-hardcore band from Saarland that was founded in early 2013.

history

The band was formed in 2013. The singers Julian Coles and Lukas Conrad had previously been in a band called A Diary Entry with other members and had released the EP Rainbow Washout in April 2011. In March 2013, Coles and Conrad went to Florida with the four other members to record their first album. Before their flight to the USA , the band had mainly written the songs for the album or earned money for travel. The recordings extended over a period of four weeks and took place in the Chango Studios with producer Cameron Mizell . Lou Miceli and Mindless X2 from Palisades , Tyler Carter from Issues , Jeffrey Wellfare from Capture the Crown and Cameron Mizell and Shawn Christmas as guest musicians participated in the recording . After their return to Germany, the Redfield Records label became aware of the group, about which the album was released in March 2014 under the name Still in the Balance . In addition to Coles and Conrad, the band on the album consists of guitarists Daniel Weiland and David Hoffmann, bassist Florian Vogel and drummer Max Fuss.

On December 23, 2016, the band announced that they had split up. Not surprisingly for some, as they played their last show over 1 year ago, on December 19, 2015, and apart from that, they were pretty quiet around the band throughout 2016. To say goodbye, the band released their "Farewell EP" with 3 new songs on the same day via Redfield Records.

style

Jessica Santiago Lopez from metalkrant.net assigned the band to post-hardcore in her review of Still in the Balance . However, she mixes classic post-hardcore with electronic influences. However, the music is not innovative, so it can also be described as cliché post hardcore. The songs alternated between clear singing , screams , breakdowns and electronic sounds. The snare drum is barely audible and is drowned out by the other instruments. The refrains are always sung clearly and have a poppy and youthful sound. The breakdowns would be the counterpart to this, but would become less important as this is done in almost every song. The music sounded like Me in a Million was trying to emulate A Day to Remember . Occasionally the vocals reminded me of Spencer Charnas from Ice Nine Kills . SpencerCoronado from absolutepunk.net noted in his review of the album that there was already a combination of two singers with guttural (Coles) and clear vocals (Conrad) at the time of A Diary Entry . He also assigned the band to post-hardcore. The album doesn't focus on cheesy synthesizers and strange breakdowns and lyrics that are hard to relate to. Instead, they rely on fast songs that border on Metalcore with honest and thoughtful lyrics. The group also makes use of blast beats in their songs .
