Émile Bourdon

Émile Bourdon (born February 15, 1884 in Lapalisse , † July 11, 1974 in Combloux ) was a French organist and composer.

Bourdon studied from 1902 to 1912 at the Conservatoire de Paris , where he received second prizes in the subjects of harmony (1905) and counterpoint (1908) and first prize in the organ (1907). His organ teacher was Alexandre Guilmant . Because of his poor health, he lived in Switzerland from 1912 to 1917 and from 1920 in Beaulieu-sur-Mer on the Cote d'Azur.

From 1922 to 1953 Bourdon was organist at Monaco Cathedral . In addition, he was professor at the Conservatory of Nice until 1951 and later at the Acedémie Reinier III. For the wedding of Rainier III. and Grace Kelly In 1956 he composed the Cortège Nuptial , which was performed for the church wedding on April 19.
