Eric Van Hove

Éric Van Hove (* 1975 in Guelma , Algeria ) is a Belgian conceptual artist and author .

Life

Van Hove grew up in Cameroon and studied graphics at the École de recherche graphique in Brussels. There he graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree . He obtained his Master of Arts degree in Traditional Japanese Calligraphy from Gakugei University in Tokyo in 2005 . In 2008 he received his doctorate from Tōkyō Geijutsu Daigaku .

Van Hove has worked in more than a hundred countries since his student years, being a nomad with both local and global issues. In practice, he uses photographs and video works as well as writing in his installations and performances. Since his studies in Tokyo, he has received various residency grants in Japan, Munich, Iran and China, among others.
