Etienne de Larminat

Étienne de Larminat (full name Marie Charles Étienne de Larminat ; born August 12, 1863 in Beaurieux (Aisne) , † January 16, 1951 ) was a French officer and topographer .

From 1883 to 1885 he attended the Saint-Cyr Military School . He was used as a military geographer in the infantry . From 1889 to 1898 he served in Algeria and Tunisia . From 1899 he taught as a military topographer in Saint-Cyr. In 1906 he was given leave of absence, in 1909 he resigned from the military and from 1911 worked as director of the Société générale d'études et de travaux topographiques. During the First World War he was mobilized again in 1914-18 and served again in the topographical service of the French army , most recently in the rank of chief de bataillon . In 1900 he became a knight and in 1918 an officer of the Legion of Honor .
