Île Lattanzi is an island up to 13 m high in the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland .
Originally it was called Îlot des Damiers ( French for checkerboard island ). French scientists changed the name in 1999. It is named after Dario Lattanzi, engineer of the French ship L'Astrolabe , who died on February 8, 1999 in a helicopter crash not far from the Dumont-d'Urville station together with two other crew members.
