The Île aux Cocos is a small uninhabited island in the Indian Ocean . It belongs to the African Republic of Mauritius . It is elongated (1.5 km) and narrow (maximum 154 meters wide).
The island is one of the many small neighboring islands of Rodrigues , from which it is about 4.2 km away. The Île aux Cocos is now a nature reserve that is home to terns like the slender beak noddi and the Australian tern . Coral reefs exist around the uninhabited island .
