The Île du Lion (meaning Lion Island ) is a small rocky island off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located 320 m north-northeast of the Pétrel Island in the Géologie archipelago .
French scientists mapped them during a research expedition lasting from 1949 to 1951. They named the island descriptively after the largest elevation on the island, which is reminiscent of a lion's head in its shape.
In the east of the island is the Baie des Glaçons .
