Johann Carl Friedrich von Block

Johann Carl Friedrich von Block (born January 23, 1735 , † October 26, 1797 ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the Second Artillery Regiment in Breslau .

Life

Origin and family

On June 25, 1787, Johann Carl Friedrich received confirmation of the Prussian nobility. He was married to Charlotte Magdalene Amalie von Forestier (1756-1808) and had at least one son, the Prussian lieutenant general and commanding general of the II. Army Corps ad interim, Karl Heinrich Stephan von Block (1781-1839), who in his 1803 closed marriage with Karoline Wilhelmine Henriette von Ahlimb (1781-1823) continued the tribe .

Career

Block joined the Prussian artillery in 1753 . During the Seven Years' War , in which he took an active part, he was promoted to seconde in 1758 - and in 1761 to prime lieutenant . He continued a career and rose to staff captain in 1764 and prime captain in 1772 . Also in 1772 he moved to the 36th Company as company commander of the 10th Company in the same function. In 1785 he was first company commander of the 17th company, but a little later of the 7th Company, and in 1786 was promoted to major . Most recently he was company commander of the 6th Company.

He took part in the First Coalition War and was awarded the Order of Pour le Mérite in 1792 as a lieutenant colonel in the field artillery corps of the 1st regiment for his service in the siege of Verdun . In 1793 he was promoted to colonel and was also the commander of the 3rd regiment . In 1795, Block changed to the 2nd regiment in the same function, and he became head of the regiment that same year.
