Robert von Bonin

Robert Julius Friedrich Moritz von Bonin , (born June 6, 1805 in Gimmel , † April 21, 1852 in Berlin ) was a Prussian captain , military historian and genealogist .

Life

origin

Robert was a member of the Pomeranian noble family von Bonin . His parents were the Prussian captain Karl Heinrich von Bonin (1772–1814) and Rosali Johanna Hoffmann (1781–1841).

career

Bonin began his career in 1814 in the Cadet Corps in Potsdam and became a non-commissioned officer in Berlin in 1819 . He joined the 6th Infantry Regiment in Glogau as an ensign in 1822 and was promoted to secondary lieutenant in 1824 . From 1827 to 1829 he attended the General War School in Berlin. In 1829 he was aggregated to the Guards Artillery Brigade. After that he was a teacher at the brigade school. In the 1930s he was with the provisional fortress reserve artillery in Mainz , with the Prussian-Austrian troop corps and with the fortress artillery in Küstrin . In 1836 Bonin received the order to go to Constantinople as an instructor for the Turkish troops , but was instead assigned as an assistant to the artillery inspection commission in 1837 . His promotion to prime lieutenant took place in 1839. At the same time he returned to the artillery brigade and was examiner at the examination board for portepeef middlemen of the combined artillery and engineering school . From 1843 to 1844 he was company commander of the 6th foot brigade in Küstrin and advanced to captain and company commander in 1844 . In the meantime invalidated by a riding accident, Bonin was given command of the Guards Craft Company in 1845 . After a full recovery, he returned as a commander of the 10th foot company of the artillery brigade. During the mobilization of 1850 he was in command of the six-pounder guard battery No. 5 in Köpenick . Since the spring of 1851 he was battery chief of the 3rd twelve-pound battery in Spandau . He died of wind and dropsy .

family

Bonin married Alexandra Juliane Werkmeister (1818–1850) in his first marriage in 1841 in Köslin . In 1851 he married Amanda Sophie Carus (* 1833), who survived him and in 1857 Dr. med. NN Pfeffer married. The first marriage had a daughter and two sons who died young, the second marriage had a son:

Works

Together with Louis von Malinowsky, Bonin wrote the three-volume work History of the Brandenburg-Prussian Artillery , published by Duncker & Humblot in Berlin in 1840, ( digitized ). Through research he played a decisive role in the creation of the history of the Upper Pomeranian family von Bonin up to the year 1863 , Berlin 1864. ( digitized version ). Occasionally he is also credited with the authorship of the basics for the dispersed battle , Berlin, Posen, Bromberg 1839 ( digitized version ). However, the actual author was his cousin Eduard von Bonin .
