The Île du Navigateur ( French for island of the navigator ) is an island in the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located north of Cap André Prud'homme at the head of the Baie Pierre Lejay .

French scientists named it after Captain Hans Nielsen, skipper of the Thala Dan for coastal surveying in 1962, who anchored off Cap André Prud'homme to replace the scientists at the Dumont-d'Urville station .
