The Îlot du Vêlage ( French for Kalbeninsel ) is a small island in the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located northwest of the Bon Docteur Nunatak .
French scientists named it in 1977 based on the calving of the neighboring Astrolabe Glacier .
