The ÖNORM B 1801-1 costs in civil engineering - Cost Classification regulates the cost breakdown of costs in building construction and civil engineering . The current draft standard B1801-1: 2015-12-01 is entitled Construction project and property management - Part 1: Property construction .

Basically, five levels of cost determination and the cost breakdown are defined. The new version deals more comprehensively with "planning and structuring of quality, costs, deadlines and the structure of the documentation for construction measures during the conception, planning and construction phases."

Related costs are broken down into cost areas. The following areas are planned:

  • 0: reason
  • 1: unlocking
  • 2: Building - shell
  • 3: Building - Technology
  • 4: Building - expansion
  • 5: establishment
  • 6: Outdoor facilities
  • 7: Fees
  • 8: additional costs
  • 9: Reserves

Cost areas are grouped together:

  • The cost areas 2 + 3 + 4 = building costs
  • The cost areas 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = construction costs
  • The cost areas 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = construction costs
  • The cost areas 0 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = total costs

In the further subdivision of the costs one differentiates between

  • Planning-oriented cost breakdown
  • Execution-oriented cost breakdown

While the planning-oriented structure subdivides into coarse elements, elements and element types, the execution-oriented structure differentiates between service areas and service groups.
