The ÖkoControl seal is a seal of quality for products. It distinguishes furniture , mattresses and bedding that have been tested for harmful substances by independent, accredited test laboratories and are as free of harmful substances as possible. Only products made from renewable raw materials (wood, cotton, linen, natural latex, etc.) are tested.

Basic requirement for certification after a pollutant test has been carried out: The raw materials must not come from overexploitation . Controlled organic cultivation is an entry requirement for mattress covers and bed textiles made of cotton .

The sign provider is the Öko Control Society for Quality Standards of Ecological Furniture Stores. The seal is therefore not a state seal, but a voluntary commitment by organized organic retailers to have products regularly checked for reasons of consumer safety. The ÖkoControl seal has existed since 1997. According to the company, over 1,000 seals have been awarded to date.

The criteria and test parameters are compared in a permanent process with the requirements of other quality labels for furniture.
