Coordinates: 49 ° 20 ′ 17 " N , 6 ° 57 ′ 24.2" E
The Berschweiler oil mill in the Heusweiler district of Berschweiler is a specialty of the mills in Saarland . It was built between 1767 and 1779. It was mentioned in a document as early as 1472 as a Lohmühle . The Berschweiler oil mill was driven by the Wahlschieder Bach by an overshot mill wheel. For oil extraction were rape (300 kg of rapeseed oil yielded 150 liters), poppy seed , nuts and Bucheckern pressed. After 1939 the mill was no longer used, although it was still fully functional. The largely wooden mill technology of the Berschweiler oil mill ( pan mill , pressing plant, heating furnace and roller mill) is still almost in its original condition. The oil mill has been a listed building since 1979 and is one of the most important cultural monuments in the Saarbrücken regional association .
