Österlen
Österlen is a region in the southeast of the Swedish province of Skåne län (Schonen / Skåne) . In general, the area east of the old land route between Ystad and Kristianstad is called Österlen. Some travel guides expand this area a little. The largest and only city in Österlen is Simrishamn .
Österlen is known for its appealing nature and historically interesting objects. Here you will find the Stenshuvud National Park , Stone Age objects such as the Ales stenar or the grave of Kivik and the medieval castle Glimmingehus .
Many Swedish artists had and have settled in Österlen, as this is where they find plenty of inspiration for their works of art. Every year at Easter there is a so-called “Art Round”, during which the artists exhibit their works in the various villages.
