The Austrian Working Group for Gestalt Theoretical Psychotherapy (ÖAGP) is a state-approved institution for subject-specific psychotherapy training in the method of Gestalt Theoretical Psychotherapy (GTP) in Austria. In addition, it is the professional association of psychotherapists practicing this method in Austria and promotes the application and further development of Gestalt theory in the field of psychotherapy .

Graduates of this training can be entered in the list of psychotherapists at the Austrian Ministry of Health with the additional designation of Gestalt theoretical psychotherapy (GTP) and are thus authorized to practice psychotherapeutic professions and to offset illness treatments with this method from health insurance companies . The subject-specific training of the ÖAGP in Gestalt theory psychotherapy is shown by the Austrian Ministry of Health with 191 ECTS credits . The ÖAGP is one of the post-secondary educational institutions in Austria recognized according to European guidelines.

The association was founded in 1985. Its forerunner was the "Gestalt Therapy / Gestalt Theoretical Psychotherapy Division" in the ASG ("Working Group for Social Psychology and Group Dynamics") from 1979 to 1985. At the beginning of 1994, the ÖAGP was officially recognized as a subject-specific training facility for the independent method of Gestalt theory psychotherapy. Since then she has been represented with a seat and a vote on the Psychotherapy Advisory Board of the Austrian Ministry of Health. She is also a member of the Austrian Federal Association for Psychotherapy (ÖBVP). the Austrian professional association for psychotherapists.

The international scientific umbrella company of the ÖAGP is the multidisciplinary society for Gestalt theory and its applications , Society for Gestalt Theory and its Applications (GTA). The scientific journal of the GTA and thus also of the ÖAGP is the international multidisciplinary journal Gestalt Theory . In addition, the ÖAGP has published the specialist journal Phenomenal - Journal for Gestalt Theoretical Psychotherapy (Verlag Krammer, Vienna) since 2009 .
