Austrian Association for Commercial Legal Protection and Copyright

The Austrian Association for Commercial Legal Protection and Copyright (ÖV) is an association of experts and interest groups in the field of commercial legal protection and copyright in the legal form of an association . The association is the publisher of the legal journal Österreichische Blätter for industrial property protection and copyright law (ÖBl) , issues regular statements on legislative projects and has been holding an annual series of seminars since 1995 with the "ÖBl seminars". The association's president is currently the lawyer Michael Meyenburg (as of 2018).

Membership in the association is open to entrepreneurs, public corporations, lawyers and patent attorneys, judges, university professors and other associations. At the end of 2015, the association had around 150 members, including the Austrian Federal Competition Authority , the Protection Association against Unfair Competition, the Austrian Patent Office and various business associations. The association also fulfills the function of a forum for professional exchange and for promoting cooperation.

In 1952 the Austrian Leaflets for Commercial Legal Protection and Copyright appeared for the first time as a joint bulletin of the Permanent Assembly of Delegates for Commercial Legal Protection, the Austrian regional groups of the International Association for Commercial Legal Protection ("AIPPI") and the International League against Unfair Competition ("LIGA") as well as the Austrian Association of the Branded Goods Industry. The resulting cooperation between the supporting organizations and their members was to be concentrated and intensified by founding a separate association in which all three organizations were members.

The founding meeting took place on March 6, 1958. The President of the Vienna Bar Association , Emerich Hunna, was then appointed as the first President . Immediately after its foundation, the association took over the publishing of the Austrian papers .
