Floorball Bundesliga

The first national championships were held in 1996 for women and men on the large field . In 1996 and 1997 the championship consisted of a tournament. A men's and women's league has existed since the 1999/2000 season (small field). In the early years, teams from Slovenia and Italy played in the Austrian league. The big field Bundesliga has been played by the men since the 2001/02 season and the women since the 2004/05 season. In the women's Bundesliga, Hungarian teams and Slovenian teams also played for the title at the beginning. The men's league has been international again since 2018 and is held as the International Floorball League in cooperation with the Slovenian Floorball Association .

The VSV Unihockey is by far the most successful team in Austria with 8 national championship titles for men.

Small field floorball was organized regionally in 2004 / 05–2006 / 07 through the state associations. The national champions then met in a federal final. Since 2008 the ÖFBV has been responsible for organizing the small field championships for women and men. The international small field tournaments Rheintalcup and Montfortcup are also held across Austria.

Junior tournaments have existed since 2000/01, official Austrian junior championships have been held since 2007, and since 2011 also for women juniors.

In school sport in particular, Austria has seen a large increase in interest in sport. As a pioneer, the federal state of Carinthia shines with its long ice hockey tradition, followed by the other federal states. Regional school championships are organized in the federal states of Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Tyrol, Styria and Carinthia.

The mixed variant of floorball is mainly offered in Austria at the university sports institutes (USI) and is promoted in school sports.
Furthermore, some mixed fun tournaments are organized by various clubs. The mixed tournament in Leoben (LE-Open) is the most traditional since 1995.

The Austrian Floorball Open, an international large-field tournament, was held between 1999 and 2010.
After an organizer could not be found since 2011, the tournament was replaced by others (e.g. "Alps Open" in Innsbruck)
