The International Floorball Federation (IFF), founded on April 12, 1986 in Huskvarna , is a professional sports association that represents the sport of floorball worldwide. Its members currently include 52 associations with a total of more than 309,000 players in 4,330 clubs (as of 2015).
history
IFF was founded in 1986 in Huskvarna, Sweden. The first president of the Federation was András Czitrom.
IFF has its headquarters and offices in Helsinki , Finland.
It is a member of Sportaccord (GAISF / General Association of International Sports Federation until 2009) and was provisionally recognized as a sport on December 11, 2008 by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee . The IFF is now aiming for inclusion in the 2020 Summer Olympics program.
In January 2009 it was announced that floorball had been recognized as a sport by the Special Olympics movement, which organizes the World Games for the mentally and multiply disabled. The IFF aims to be represented in the Special Olympics program by 2013 at the latest.
The IFF also works with the International University Sports Federation ( FISU ).
