Transition (riding)

In riding, the transition refers to the change from one gait to another or the change "within a gait", the change of pace .

Examples of pace changes are:

  • Gallop : The change from stop, walk or trot to canter
  • Trotting : The change from stop or step to trot
  • Parry through : the change from one gait to a slower gait or to hold ( parry )

Examples of tempo changes are:

  • the change from the working trot to the assembled trot
  • the change from strong canter to medium canter etc.
