The Überhäsige Viertel is a southern quarter of the city of Löningen in the Lower Saxony district of Cloppenburg . The district gets its name from its location on the other side of the Hase . It consists of the villages Angelbeck, Röpke, Winkum, Huckelrieden and Ehren. With the dissolution of the independent school camps Angelbeck, Ehren and Winkum, the individual villages forged into the community of the Überhäsigen Quarter.

Angelbeck

Angelbeck was mentioned for the first time in 1350 as "Angelbecke". It is located directly south of the city of Löningen. Angelbeck is mostly located on higher, dry and sandy areas near ash bottom. In the Gänhauck area, the structure of a clustered village (drubbel) is clearly recognizable. There, where the district road from Ehren joins the district road Löningen-Menslage, a settlement, the so-called "Turmkämpe", formed between 1960 and 1965. In 2002 another settlement, "Am Moorkamp", was added.

The school, which was built in 1911 and expanded in 1920, and a teacher's apartment built around 1902 are now privately owned.

The shooting hall, which was converted in 1996 into an overbearing village community center, gives Angelbeck a kind of central function. From an economic point of view, Angelbeck has several farms and one potato processing company (s). There is also an advertising agency, printing company, electrical company and a holiday pension.

As common village activities, the sausage ball and the decorating of the streets for the rifle festival, where old and young come together, should be mentioned. Angelbeck includes the Haseknie area, which is located in the immediate outskirts of the city of Löningen. The Haseknie can boast successes in the competition “The best small settlements”.

Since July 30, 2013 the village of Angelbeck has been declared a closed place. The traffic safety commission of the responsible district of Cloppenburg approved the application of the residents quickly and easily.

In 2014 Angelbeck has 355 inhabitants, of which 168 are female and 187 are male.

Huckelrieden

Huckelrieden was first mentioned in 1350 as toder Huckeriden. It is geographically in the center of the Überhäsigen district. Huckelrieden is a settlement on a higher elevation and protected from the floods of the Hase in the lowland area of the Bühnenbach. Until 1800 there must have been a castle with a chapel and moats in Huckelrieden (where the Wöste farm is today), which was then leveled. All belonged to a noble estate, which was owned by the Steding family from 1399 to 1701 . A statue of St. Nepomuk an der Hase in Löningen is said to have been there too.

The entire district is named after the former "Gut Huckelrieden". Today the landmark of the village is the Schutenmühle with its home and bakery, which attracts many visitors every year and where the German Milling Day is celebrated every year. The Heimathaus is also known for many exhibitions by national artists. Economically, Huckelrieden has a garden and landscaping company with several employees. 61 inhabitants currently live in Huckelrieden.

Brachtlage cultural-historical educational forest trail

In Huckelrieden there is the "Brachtlage Cultural and Historical Forest Trail". Over a distance of around 1.5 km, the path shows the history of the Brachtlage forest, the various local woods, their use and economic importance. In the predominantly natural forest, the visitor can still enjoy the naturalness of the environment. The moonshine bench located halfway invites you to linger with a wonderful view of open meadows. The heathland as a further component offers a colorful natural spectacle, especially in autumn. The "Brachtlage Cultural History Forest Trail" is located shortly after entering Huckelrieden on Angelbecker Straße.

Winkum

The Winkum farmers in the Überhäsigen district were first mentioned in a document in 1281. Winkum borders the Osnabrück district in the south and today has 145 inhabitants. In 1772 Winkum received an elementary school, which was operated until 1969 and then closed. The center of the village is the Lourdes Grotto, which was built in 1932. This was expanded in 1981 with a bell tower that was inaugurated by the clergy of the parish of Löningen for the 700th anniversary of the village.

SC Winkum

The sports club of the Überhäsigen Quarter is the SC Winkum, which is mainly known for its strong youth work far beyond the borders of the Überhäsigen Quarter. SC Winkum currently has three men’s teams, one women’s teams, an old men’s department with over 100 members, and 13 youth teams with 170 athletes. The SC Winkum has a main square with a grandstand and three side seats.

to honor

The village of Ehren is located in the southwestern area of the municipality of Löningen. It was mentioned for the first time in the 12th to 14th centuries as "Ederen" and later as "Edhere". In the south, the Hahnenmoorkanal forms the border to Artland and the district of Osnabrück. Ehren lies on a slab of sand in the "Ehrener Feld" on the edge of the Haseniederung.

The area is mainly characterized by the Ehrener Forest. The farmers “Wienöbst” and “Winkhoff” are also honored. The village has a fruit growing business and a gardening and landscaping company. A total of 237 residents live in honor.

Röpke

Röpke is located south of Löningen, as a village along the Bühnenbach, the so-called little rabbit. On the west side about half to Huckelrieden and the other half to Winkum. In the south, Röpke borders on hostels (Osnabrück district).

Röpke must have been settled very early, because around 1100 there were reports of the robber knight's castle from Retbäke-Riedbach. Röpke was later derived from Rätbeke, and the robber knight's castle became the Moorburg. The excavations at the Moorburg from 1980 to 1987 revealed some very valuable objects, including two Roman gold thalers from 813 and 827.

Today (2014) there are 19 houses in Röpke in which 70 people live. Röpke is a farming community with 5 full-time and a few part-time businesses.
