Survival suit of the type used on oil rigs operated by the Norwegian operator Statoil

The survival suit is a marine garment that serves as a life-saving appliance. It improves the chances of survival of a person who has fallen into cold water by providing additional buoyancy like a life jacket and at the same time acting as a heat-insulating against the surrounding water . The survival time in 4 ° C cold water is several hours .

Similar to dry suits , neoprene or trilaminate is used as the upper material . Waterproof boots and gloves are fixed.

Survival suits are made in signal colors and provided with reflective strips to enable better visual recognition of the victim.
