Stepover (soccer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In football , a stepover is a trick that is intended to confuse and deceive a defender or goalkeeper .

Here, the striker alternately leads his left or right foot around the ball to the right and left without touching it. The faster this circling of the ball goes on, and the more the upper body is also mistakenly involved in the movement, the more effective the trick is.

The defender is supposed to be made to "go along" with every movement of the striker and runs the risk of opening a side to the attacker carrying the ball, on which the attacker can pass him with the ball and thus leave him standing "stupid".

The perfect execution of the stepover requires very good coordination and high speed in a fraction of a second.
