The MÁV IVc were freight train - Tender locomotives of Hungarian State Railways (MÁV).

history

The heavy freight traffic on the Fiuman mountain route necessitated a new order for four-way coupled machines. The Budapest machine works used the boiler of the categories MÁV Ie , MÁV Ih and MÁV Ik ( MÁV series 222 , MÁV series 320 , MÁV series 321 ) for the construction of these powerful freight locomotives. The wet steam twin system was used. The last axis could be moved sideways by 30 mm in order to achieve better cornering. The vehicles had external frames and Heusinger controls . 35 copies were built from 1894 to 1896. Since the sheet travel was not satisfactory despite the movable axis, the order for further machines of this type was canceled. As a result, the MÁV had Mallet locomotives built to guarantee the desired cornering.

The MÁV first gave the vehicles the numbers 4301–4335 and the category IVc, from 1911 the designation 421,001–035.

Through territorial assignment , 14 machines came to the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD , which they designated as the 414.5 series and used on Slovak territory. These machines were retired after the Second World War .
