The ČSD class 464.0 " Ušatá " (roughly: " The one with the ears " because of the smoke deflectors ) was a tank locomotive series of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
history
In 1933, the first three pre-series units of these mountain express locomotives were built at ČKD in Prague . As the locomotives proved their worth, the ČSD ordered a total of 76 locomotives, which, in addition to ČKD, were also supplied by Škoda in Pilsen .
15 machines that were in service in the Sudetenland had to be handed over to the Deutsche Reichsbahn as a result of the Munich Agreement in 1938 and were given the designation 68 001 to 015. A further 6 machines were also intended for delivery, but ultimately remained in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and kept theirs ČSD numbers. Eight machines came to Slovakia in 1939. After 1945 the ČSD received all machines back.
The 464.0 series locomotives were retired from 1973 to 1981. The locomotives 464.001 (museum locomotive of the ŽSR ), 464.008 (museum locomotive of the ČD ) and 464.053 ( Railway Museum Lužná u Rakovníka ) have been preserved. The 464.032 and 044 are also still preserved.
Technical specifications
The development made use of proven locomotives. The boilers, coupled gear sets and equipment were taken over from the ČSD series 456.0 , the cylinders were already used in the ČSD series 455.1 . The bogies were laterally displaceable by 5 mm, the driving wheel set and the third coupled wheel set had weakened wheel flanges so that a radius of up to 150 meters could be driven through.
In the beginning copper fire rifles were used, later steel fire rifles were used. The prototypes had small pipe superheaters, the series then had large pipe superheaters.
The storage containers were initially riveted, from 464,045 onwards were welded. The smooth rear wall of the tender was characteristic.
