The vehicles of the kkStB series 22.0 were electric multiple units of the kk state railways (kkStB) for the local railway Zartlesdorf – Hohenfurth – Lippnerschwebe .

history

The three vehicles were built in 1912 by the Austrian Siemens-Schuckert-Werke (electrical equipment) and by Ringhoffer in Prague -Smichov for the Hohenfurther Electric Local Railway (HeL). Conceptually, they corresponded to the vehicles that had previously been built for the Montafonerbahn ( kkStB series 20.0 , 1905) and the Neumarkt – Waizenkirchen – Peuerbach local railway ( kkStB series 21.0 , 1908). The vehicles were also designed as tow cars for freight transport. The Hohenfurther Electric Local Railway did not have electric locomotives for route service.

After the First World War, the vehicles remained on their original route and therefore came into the possession of the newly founded Czechoslovakia . In 1924, the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) procured another, largely identical railcar, which initially bore the number 22.004 according to the kkStB scheme. In contrast to the vehicles built in 1912, it received electrical equipment from Českomoravská - Pistons (ČMK) in Prague. In 1925 all four vehicles were redrawn as M 201.001–004.

After the Sudetenland became part of Germany in the autumn of 1938, the Hohenfurther Electric Local Railway also came under the administration of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the railcars were now referred to as ET 187.01-03. The M 201.004 was given the number ET 187.11. After the Second World War, the railcars were returned to the ČSD fleet.

The first vehicle to be withdrawn from the fleet was the M 201.001 in 1951. The M 201.003, on the other hand, received a basic overhaul in the early 1950s, with the old car body being broken off and replaced with a new one without a service compartment. The M 201.002 and 004 were shut down in 1956 after the overhead contact line voltage had been increased to 1500 V. The last operational vehicle was the modernized M 201.003, which was still used under 1500 volts and was not taken out of service until 1963.

The car body from M 201.003 was sold to a private buyer after it was taken out of service. It is still in a desolate condition today.

technical features

The design of the railcars largely corresponded to contemporary passenger cars. The driver's cabs were located instead of the platforms at the ends of the vehicle. Between the two 2nd and 3rd class passenger compartments was a small service compartment with a luggage compartment.

The drive was implemented with two pawl bearing traction motors in parallel. The drive switches on the driver's cabs corresponded to the ÖSSW type PQ and each had 14 driving and eight braking levels. They each had a separate driving and braking roller. A pantograph with two contact strips was arranged on the roof . Snow plows could be mounted on the railcars for winter service.
