The Borsa Istanbul ( BIST ) ( Turkish : Borsa Istanbul , abbreviated are ) is the only Turkish market for the trading of securities .

The exchange was founded on December 26, 1985 in Istanbul . It is located in the Sarıyer district , on the European side of Istanbul. The chairman of the board is Himmet Karadag , the managing director is Osman Sarac . Trading hours are 9:30 am–12: 30pm EET for the first session and 2:00 pm–5:30pm EET for the second session. On April 5, 2013, the Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) was renamed Borsa Istanbul (BIST).
