Chikage Ōgi
Chikage Ōgi ( Japanese 扇 千 景 , Ōgi Chikage ; * May 10, 1933 , Kobe as Hiroko Kimura ( 木村 寛 子 , Kimura Hiroko )), actually: Hiroko Hayashi ( 林 寛 子 , Hayashi Hiroko ), is a Japanese politician of the LDP .
Life
Ōgi joined the Takarazuka Revue in April 1954 . In 1958 she married the kabuki actor Kotaro Hayashi - later known as Tojuro Sakata - and left the Takarazuka Revue. After that, she mainly played in television series ( Dorama ).
From 2000 to 2001, Ōgi was Minister of Transport and Construction and from 2001, when both ministries were merged, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport . She then became the first woman to head the House of Lords . She remained president of the second chamber until July 2007, when her party lost a majority to the opposition Democratic Party of Japan . In May, after 30 years as a member of parliament, she announced her withdrawal from politics.
