The highest is Koyasu ( 子 安 島 , -shima ) in the north at 114 m above sea level. The rocks, consisting mainly of andesite , represent the largely submerged lava dome of a former volcano . Due to its profile from a distance, it is also called Sambondake ( 三 本 岳 , dt. "3 peaks").
