AB Šiaulių energija is an energy supply company with its headquarters in Lithuania's fourth largest city, Šiauliai . It provides electricity and district heating and operates a thermal power station for this purpose .
history
In 1923 there was the Bačiūnai power plant , from 1931 Šiaulių miesto savivaldybės Bačiūnų elektrinė . In 1941 the Rėkyvos power plant was added . 1951 it was Rėkyvos - Bačiūnų Valstybinė rajoninė elektros stotis (Rėkyvos-Bačiūnų V RES), from 1957 Rėkyvos Valstybinė rajoninė elektrinė (Rėkyvos VRE), from 1977 Šiaulių šilumos tinklai , 1995 specialiosios paskirties akcinės bendrovės " Lietuvos energija " filialas "Šiaulių energija".
In 1997 SPAB “Šiaulių energija” was separated from “Lietuvos energija”. Since 1999 the owners are Šiaulių miesto savivaldybė and Rajongemeinde Šiauliai . In 2000 there were 1,070 employees. In 2013 Kauno energija achieved a turnover of 94 million euros (322.3 million Lt) and a profit of 1 million euros (3.4 million Lt). Since July 2002 the company is AB Šiaulių energija.
