AB Šilutės baldai (Eng. ' Šilutė Möbel') is one of the largest furniture manufacturers in Lithuania , a subsidiary of SBA Furniture Group . AB “Šilutės baldai” produces over 300 different products for the domestic and foreign markets. There are 840 employees. In 2007 the company achieved sales of 30 million euros. It is located in the district of Šilutė .
history
The company was founded in 1890. The owners were of German descent. When they went back to Germany, they also took some systems with them. Everything was rebuilt afterwards. A windmill and sawmill were also built later . In 1945 the first wooden furniture was made. In 1958 the first furniture production plant was built. The simple kitchen furniture (individual cabinets and stools) were made there. From 1970 kitchen furniture sets were produced. The company used to work 1,000 people.
