ʿAbdallāh ibn Baiya

ʿAbdallāh ibn Mahfūz ibn Baiya ( Arabic عبد الله بن محفوظ بن بية, DMG ʿAbdallāh b. Maḥfūẓ b. Baiya , b. 1935 in Mauritania ) is a scholar of Islam specializing in the four traditional Sunni schools of law with a focus on the Malikites of Madhhab . He teaches at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia . He was formerly Vice-President, Minister of Justice, Minister of Education and Minister of Islamic Affairs in Mauritania. He is also a member of the so-called European Council for Fatwa and Research . Baiya was Vice President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and Founder and President of the Global Center for Renewal and Guidance until 2014 .

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (English. Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ) sent (October 13, 2007).
