'Mamohato
'Mamohato Bereng Seeiso (* 1941 ; † 2003 ; born as Tabitha' Masentle Lerotholi Mojela ) was a member of the Lesotho royal family . She was regent of Lesotho three times .
Life
Tabitha 'Masentle Lerotholi Mojela married King Moshoeshoe II , who had been crowned two years earlier, in 1962 and took the name' Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. Moshoeshoe II became head of state in 1966 in the now independent Lesotho. On February 10, 1970, he was overthrown by Prime Minister Leabua Jonathan . Afterwards, Jonathan also acted as head of state. 'Mamohato was first crowned king in place of her husband on June 5, 1970, but was only seven-year-old son David Mohato Bereng Seeiso regent of Lesotho. She held the office of regent until Moshoeshoe II took over the throne again on November 20, 1970.
After King Moshoeshoe II was overthrown on November 6, 1990, she took over the reign again before her son Letsie III. became king on November 12, 1990. After another reign of her husband Moshoeshoe II, she became regent for the third time after his death in a traffic accident on January 15, 1996 and then handed over the dignity again to her son Letsie. In the period that followed, until her death as Queen Mother ( Sesotho : mofumahali ) , she remained de facto deputy head of state and at the same time close adviser to her son.
In addition to today's King Letsie III. (* 1963) she had the son Seeiso Bereng Seeiso (* 1966) and the daughter Constance Christina 'Maseeiso (1969-1994).
