.koeln and .cologne are new new top-level domains for Internet addresses (domains) for companies, organizations and private individuals with reference to the city of Cologne .

In November 2012, NetCologne Gesellschaft für Telekommunikation mbH applied to the city of Cologne for the issuing of an operating license for the city-specific top-level domains .koeln and .cologne and received the legitimation of the city to apply to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to promote these two top-level domains.

NetCologne founded the dotkoeln service to manage the two endings . The TLDs .koeln and .cologne have been generally available since September 5, 2014.

To apply for the TLDs .koeln and .cologne, the Köln plus Partner e. V. started the “.koeln hier ich bin” campaign on March 13, 2013, with the aim of drawing attention to the new domain endings.

The Cologne footballer Lukas Podolski was one of the first private individuals to receive his own .koeln domain. On July 17, 2014, after the World Cup, he was presented with the domain www.lukas-podolski.koeln as part of an honor on the Cologne city hall balcony from Mayor Jürgen Roters .
