1. FC Futsal Innsbruck was founded on February 21, 2006 by Roland Oberprantacher and Peter Preisinger and has been a member of the Austrian Futsal Bundesliga since its inception.
The starting point for the foundation was the increasing toughness in football , including indoor football , where more serious injuries occurred in games and tournaments. With its set of rules, futsal offered an ideal platform for tech-savvy players.
The first few years were difficult, as futsal was a big unknown in Austria . The dependency on football players was correspondingly great and often prevented the best line-up from appearing. The situation has changed and since the 2009/10 season the team has for the first time consisted of more futsal players than club footballers.
The 1. FC Futsal Innsbruck today provides a tried and tested young futsal team, which, driven by the motto "Futsal with a heart", shows the prospects for further development towards a year-round sport in the ÖFB.
