history

Predecessor club

A first football club was founded in Trogen in 1920. 18 young men founded the Trogen gaming association . The team competed in the lower classes of the Hof soccer district. The game was initially played on a meadow near the frog farmer in the Siedlung district, on a stubble field owned by farmer Max Steinhäußer below the cemetery and on a meadow near the village pond. After negotiations with the Trogen manor, an area on the Weißen Bühl was taken over on lease, which became a permanent venue. Personnel and financial problems led to the cessation of game operations and the dissolution of the club in 1926.

Start-up

Six years later, on May 26, 1932, ten men got together to found a new football club, which they named 1. FC Trogen . The old SpVgg am Bühl field served as a sports field. By 1938, the number of members had already risen to over 100. In 1942 the game was stopped because almost all players were drafted into the Wehrmacht . 27 association members died in the war or died as a result of it.

Club life resumed shortly after the end of the war. The soccer team played a few friendly matches and in 1946 returned to competitive matches in the Hof leagues. These leagues remained the club's sporting home for almost thirty years. It was not until 1978 that under player-coach Dieter Heinze, who had taken over the team in the summer of 1975, promotion to the Upper Franconian district league was achieved for the first time. The guest appearance lasted only two years.

A second high flight of the club started in 2001 under player-coach Jürgen Gahn, who was formerly active at FC Bayern Hof . Between 2002 and 2009 he made five ascents. With the championship in the regional league Upper Franconia, the club secured promotion to the regional league Bavaria North in 2009 . There the team stayed in the back of the table and was relegated after one season. In the following season, by winning the championship, he was promoted to the national league again. There the team reached 8th place in the table and thus rose to the new double-track Bayern League . In 2013 he was relegated to the regional league, and in the following year to the district league. In the regional league Upper Franconia East (2014/15 and 2015/16) you could achieve a solid place in the upper middle of the table.
