The 1000-year-old oak is a natural monument in Holte-Stukenbrock Castle in the Gütersloh district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The 1000-year-old oak stands west of the Holte Castle district at an altitude of around 110 meters in the middle of the Holter Forest , around 350 meters southwest of the Holte Hunting Lodge . The course of the Ölbach is in the immediate vicinity of the tree.

The 1000-year-old oak shares its name with a number of other ancient oaks with an actual, estimated, or claimed age of around 1000 years. The age of the Schloß Holter example is estimated to be 400 to 500 years. The lower third of the trunk of the pedunculate oak is hollowed out due to fungal infestation, and the stability of the trunk is impaired by three longitudinal openings. In order to continue to preserve the tree, it has already been subjected to several tree surgical measures, including the tree crown was cut back several times to relieve the trunk. The chest height is 8.15 m.

The natural monument, designated since 1937, is a popular starting point in the Holter Forest and is on the route of several cycle paths. The European cycle route R1 and the "D-Netzroute 3", which is congruent in this area, as well as the BahnRadRoute Teuto-Senne lead directly along the 1000-year-old oak.
