The BahnRadRoute Teuto-Senne is a long-distance cycle route from Osnabrück to Paderborn . The cycle path has a length of 140 to 160 km (depending on the choice of alternative route sections) and leads through Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia .

description

The cycle path is designed as a "BahnRadRoute". It is therefore possible in many places to switch to the train and cover parts of the route by train or to start the individual bike tour at an intermediate station. The route runs parallel to the two rail connections Osnabrück – Bielefeld (“Haller Willem”) and Bielefeld – Paderborn (“Sennebahn”). In order to include all stops, some small detours are necessary.

Local passenger transport is carried out on both lines by the “ NordWestBahn ” with Talent diesel multiple units. The trains only have limited spaces for bicycles, so advance booking is recommended, especially for larger groups.

The route begins in the historic old town of Osnabrück . The following municipalities are on the route:

Hilter , Bad Rothenfelde , Versmold - Bockhorst ,

Halle (Westf.) Wasserschloss Tatenhausen , Steinhagen

Verl - Sende , Holte Castle , Hövelhof , Paderborn- Neuhaus Castle , Paderborn orn .

Apart from crossing the Teutoburg Forest between Hagen and Bad Iburg, the route mostly runs on flat paths. The alternative route via Georgsmarienhütte is easier to drive. The Senne south of Bielefeld offers heathland landscapes (including the Moosheide) and several nature reserves. Detours can lead to the Ems source or the Senne military training area. The route ends with the magnificent Neuhaus Palace with its baroque garden, as well as the cathedral and museum in the Imperial Palace in Paderborn.
